Originally built in 1906 by McLennan and McFeely to serve as a distribution warehouse for hardware and building supplies. The building was later acquired in 1975 by sportswear company, Koret of California. Koret used the first 2 floors until 1999, while the upper floors were used for film production and art studios. In 2006, the building was re-developed into residential homes.
Koret is still one of my favorite buildings in Gastown. The exposed brick, wooden beam and concrete floors paired with one of the greatest gated courtyards in the city is the quintessential NY-style warehouse conversion. Most units have 10.5′ ceilings, AirBNB is allowed if furnished at a 7 day min. There is a parking garage but it was mostly allotted to units over 1000sqft. Work/live designation allows for many types of business, restricted by COV bylaws (no tattoo studios permitted).
